“Sleep Training”myths with Amy

When starting today’s post, I wondered what might be the most common question around sleep help. Not a single question as such, but I realised there is such confusion over what we can offer as Sleep Consultants.

As a mum of two, I know just how important sleep is, and more importantly- how difficult it can be if you’re not sleeping well with your little one. My aim was to create simple, affordable and easily accessible sleep help, to make good sleep available to everyone. I am so proud that we have been able to create this, and look forward to helping many more families achieve better sleep!

First, and foremost, we are not here to tell you what you are doing wrong, and most importantly, if it’s working for you then keep doing what you’re doing! But we are here to give you support, if and when you feel there needs to be some changes made. We guide you through suggested routines to implement, and all the tools to create a good sleep environment, how to settle to sleep, sleep science and lots of other tips along the way.

The common misconception is that we will just tell you you let your baby “cry it out” to learn to self soothe- but this is simply not the case. Our approach is a gentle, supportive approach, geared to nurture our maternal instincts and not neglect them. We don’t guarantee there won’t be any tears- as sometimes there can be a few while implementing change, but we encourage you to support your little one, not just accept crying is part of it.

Lastly, any reputable Sleep Consultant wont guarantee results in “X” amount of time- it is simply impossible. Although we are fully trained and experienced in this field, all babies are different so it would be irresponsible to guarantee a specific result in a certain amount of time, as much as they are often achieved.

If you’re not sure where to start, but would like to start making changes, please head to our homepage for a free download Sleep Help Pack, book a free call, or head to our Good Sleep Guides page.

Good sleep vibes to all!
